　　The tane* unto the other say,
　　“Where sall* we gang* and dine today?”
　　“In behint yon auld fail dyke*,
* N1 K) f, E4 T$ A& U" G2 m　　I wot* there lies a new-slain knight;
　　And naebody kens* that he lies there,
　　But his hawk, his hound, and lady fair.
　　“His hound is to the hunting gane*,
+ o+ m  T$ c2 f8 p0 ^　　His hawk to fetch the wild-fowl hame*,
. ~& C8 F1 Z6 A& w8 F　　His lady’s ta’en another mate,

　　“我们今天到那里去寻觅食物?”
　　“我知道有一位男爵新近被人杀死,

　　“他的鹰隼在为他人捕获飞鸟,

　　我们今天可以大饱口福。
